BLACK LEATHER JESUS is a Texas-based harsh noise band that was formed in 1989, but did not release its first album until 1990. The band has included over 15 members over the years. The band was founded by Richard Ramirez. Currently, it also includes Kevin Novak (TEF), Sean Matzus (The Secret Geography/ITLOA), Scott Houston(Respirator/S.P.I.T.), Vance Osborne (Murex/ITLOA), Jovan Hernandez (ze'r0-sum/Anatomy of a Blackout), Mike Payne(Bondage is the Future), & Thomas Mortigan (RU-486).

Black Leather Jesus is taking a break from recording and live performances. Members are currently working on their own solo/collaborative projects.
